Choosing to seek therapy isn’t always easy. The thought of opening yourself up and becoming vulnerable can be full of questions and anxiety. However, the long-term benefits of self-acceptance and understanding are invaluable. For this reason I work to create an open and safe environment that you can feel comfortable in. I believe that learning to live in the present moment is a gift beyond measure.
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and use my formal education and training to help clients gain the tools they need to achieve and maintain improved mental health. I have also received specialized training and experience in the treatment of eating disorders and received my certification as an Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS). One of my biggest goals when working with the eating disorder population is to help clients identify how they use their relationship with food to control life stressors and uncomfortable feelings, such as anger and sadness, and then to assist in identifying healthier, more long lasting alternatives.
I specialize in eating disorders, depression, anxiety, addictions, trauma, PTSD and family systems. I have over 5 years of experience working in the mental health field with both genders, ranging from adolescents to adults. I use an integrative therapeutic approach, which allows me to individualize the treatment and to truly meet each client where they are. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy have proven to be extremely successful modalities for treatment and I received intensive training in these therapies. I believe the family system is essential to progress and success in treatment, for both adolescents and adults, and should be included throughout the therapeutic process.
